Savant Systems has engineered a home automation solution that is nothing short of amazing. With Jetsons-like technology, Savant’s “ROSIE” application transforms your iPhone or iPod touch into a personal and portable control device that’s capable of monitoring and running your home theater room, lighting control systems, whole house audio and distributed video system, and any other smart home electronics. You can watch tv with it (no satellite needed, but it is limited in channels). Can be wireless, so you can get on your iphone in California and change the lights, etc at your house in VA!
PROTÉGÉ – entry level version for medium size homes (4000 sq feet). This basic system costs about $5,000 and gives you up to 8 zones of audio. The entire system is Mac Mini based. This is really changing home automation, making it very affordable. Your iPhone is your touch panel, instead of a $4000 unit as with previous systems.
