When it comes to energy efficiency, homeowners have plenty of options. However, many people overlook a key energy-saving opportunity: lighting. It accounts for almost 20 percent of the average homeowner’s monthly electric bill.
If you’d like to save money and energy, install dimmers throughout your house. This is one of the easiest green home improvements you can make.
Every time you dim the lights you save energy. Dimming by 25 percent, for example, saves about 20 percent in energy usage—and bulbs last longer, too. Dim more and you’ll save even more.
We recommend Lutron dimmers and light control systems, which enable homeowners to use just the right amount of light, reduce electricity usage, and extend the life of your bulbs. These whole-home light control systems extend energy saving throughout your entire home. Their advanced technology allows you to control the latest energy-efficient light sources, such as LEDs and fluorescent lamps.
Energy savings is not the only benefit you get from dimming lights though. You can save energy without sacrificing comfort or style. Dimming helps personalize a space and create just the right mood or ambiance for any activity, whether you’re reading a book or making dinner. Creating varying levels of light also allows you to give each room its own look and feel, using light as part of your décor rather than only as a functional element.

A little extra vigilance before you leave home will help keep your property and belongings safe while you’re gone—and will keep you from obsessing about security once you’re on the road.
Benefits of Home Security Systems
Installing a home security system is a good way to make your house safer, whether you’re around or not. One of the nice things about these features is that they’re working when you’re awake, asleep, on vacation or hosting an outdoor barbecue. They fade into the background as far as you’re concerned, but still make your property less attractive to opportunistic thieves.
Keep Watch from Anywhere
Smart home technology can be a useful tool for protecting your property while you travel. An enhanced security system, complete with IP surveillance cameras, gives you the power to see what’s going on in your home and receive activity alerts straight to your web-enabled device.
What is an IP Camera?
An Internet protocol camera, or IP camera, is a type of digital video camera commonly employed for surveillance. They can send and receive data via a computer network and the Internet.
ProSmart’s IP camera system allows you to see any part of your home over a simple Internet connection. It provides a convenient way for you know what’s going on at home no matter where you are.
Peace of Mind

Every good party or get-together needs music. Unfortunately, if your gathering is outside, getting music to play can be difficult.
We’ve all had the batteries run out in our portable stereo or had an extension cord that is too short. And turning up the volume on that expensive stereo system in your home and opening a window just won’t do the trick.
If you want high-quality music at your next pool party or backyard BBQ, the solution is outdoor speakers! They will fill the air with sound and give you the clear audio and the volume that you need.
These permanent audio fixtures are durable and specially made to be resistant to wind, water and sun. They are designed to produce great sound outside in all kinds of weather.
Outdoor speaker systems don’t need to be big. They can be as stylish or inconspicuous as you need them to be. Remember that small size does not equate to small sound.
At ProSmart, we carry a variety of models that offer superior audio quality and exceptional design. They are also backed up by our excellent customer support.
Regardless of which outdoor speaker system you choose, we’re sure that you’ll feel confident about your purchase. And you’re guaranteed to have the coolest outdoor party on the block!
Many people mistakenly believe that adequate surge protection begins and ends with plugging their computer into a power strip. Unfortunately, most of these are little more than glorified extension cords.
A surge will follow any wire into a house, including phone and cable lines, and threaten televisions, satellite systems, computers, modems and appliances. Delicate electronic circuitry has proliferated throughout our homes, leaving common appliances as vulnerable as computers to the effects of surges.
Two Types of Surges
A power surge may last for only a few millionths of a second. At its worst it carries tens of thousands of volts, enough to fry circuit boards, crash hard drives, and ruin DVD and home-entertainment systems.
Lightning-induced surges are the most powerful and most feared: A 200,000-amp jolt crashing through a power line will burn standard 20-amp wiring like a light bulb filament. But a lightning strike has to be less than a mile from the house to cause harm, and in fact lightning does not cause most surge-related damage.
Far more common, if not as dramatic, are surges caused by downed power lines, sudden changes in electricity use by a nearby factory, or even the cycling on and off of laser printers, electric dryers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and other energy-sucking devices in the home.
Tame Power Spikes
How can you protect your home and all its equipment against the harmful effects of power surges? The best way to gain peace of mind is to install a whole-house surge protection system.
This investment will produce multiple returns. Not only will you by save money on equipment repair costs and servicing inconveniences, you will extend the life of your electric equipment.
And while insurance companies don’t typically give discounts for surge-protected homes, investing in protection may very well pay for itself in the long run. You’ll sleep better during thunderstorms too.

What Makes 4K Different?
A 4K television has 4K resolution, which is Ultra-High Definition or UHDTV. That means it has four times the resolution of a 1080p Full HDTV.
Why Does Resolution Matter?
A television picture is made up of pixels. Resolution refers to the number of pixels on the screen. The more pixels there are on a screen, the smaller the pixels appear. The smaller the pixels appear, the clearer the picture will look.
The key to HDTV’s popularity is its smooth, crisp lines and well-defined picture. This allows you to distinguish small things like pores on an actor’s face.
If you have a 1080p full HDTV, it has 1,080 horizontal lines of pixels from the top to the bottom of your screen. On a 50-inch TV, this pixel count or resolution is enough to give you a beautiful picture if you are sitting at least five feet away.
Isn’t 1080 Full HDTV Good Enough?
On a 42, 50 or 60-inch television, 1080 Full HDTV has a high enough resolution to create a clear and detailed picture. If the TV is 84-inches, such as some of the new 4K models, the picture quality wouldn’t be as sharp as it is on the smaller televisions.
For these seven-foot TVs, some experts believe UHDTV or 4K is your best bet for the highest definition. Since most people don’t have the room for an 84-inch television, these may not be practical for the average homeowner.
